About this product

Frames are the whole business here, so a pistol whose frame is not the serialized part deserves a close look. CZ built the DUTY 4.0 around a serialized internal chassis, leaving the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame as a modular component. It is a striker-fired 9x19mm sold as the C compact or the F full-size, with MS versions of each adding a manual thumb safety to the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety.

For a customer who wants a factory gun beside the frame kits, the rest of the sheet is straightforward. The barrel is 4 inches and unthreaded, the sights are fixed, and the slide is cut for a direct-mount optic; CZ's photos show Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dots in place. The refined SFDA trigger is rated at 25±4 N with a 9±1 mm travel and 4 mm reset. The C holds 15+1 and the F 17+1, both taking two more with the extended base plate. List price from CZ is $729.

The C is the carry-size frame. It stands 5.3 in (135 mm) tall, weighs 27.2 oz (770 g) unloaded and carries 15+1 rounds of 9mm, or 17+1 once the longer base plate is fitted. Short enough to hide under a shirt, long enough to get every finger on the grip.

There is no external safety on this model. Drop safety comes from the firing pin block, the trigger safety and the drawbar safety, the way most modern striker-action pistols are set up. If you want a thumb safety lever, the MS version has one.

Under the DUTY name sits a serial-numbered modular chassis, a 1.3 in (33 mm) wide fiberglass-reinforced polymer frame, a 102 mm barrel and a trigger CZ rates at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs) with a 0.16 in (4 mm) reset. The slide is optics-ready by direct mount rather than an adapter plate. Fixed sights come standard, and the barrel is not threaded.

Who is it for: daily carry, a nightstand gun that also rides along, and new buyers who want one pistol for everything. If you already shoot a P-10, the DUTY is the next step in the same family, with a new chassis and the optics done right.

Because the chassis carries a serial number, this one does not ship to your house the way a frame kit does. Give us your FFL dealer at checkout, and the pistol goes to them with tracking. The dealer completes the paperwork and applies your state's rules at pickup, so pick a dealer who takes transfers and ask about their process before you order.

Frequently asked questions

Which part of the DUTY 4.0 is the firearm?
The internal chassis carries the serial number, which is why the polymer grip frame around it can be modular.
Does it use the same slides as the frames you sell?
No. Our frame kits name the Gen 3 slides they fit, and the DUTY 4.0 is a complete CZ pistol with its own slide and barrel already fitted.
Does the CZ DUTY 4.0 C take CZ P-10 magazines?
CZ lists the DUTY with its own 15-round magazine and an extended base plate for 17+1. P-10 magazine fit is not confirmed, so plan on DUTY magazines.
Is the compact easy to shoot?
It shares the 4-inch barrel and slide with the full-size gun, so the sight radius is the same. Only the grip is shorter.
